Some male computer programmers said that every computer should be refered to as “she” for the folling reason: “Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.” Female programmers retaliated with the following reason that every computer should be refered to as “he”: “They have a lot of data but are still clueless.”

Arguing using cutting remarks like these will never solve a problem or get a person further in life. Leran the art of solving disagreements peaceably rather than using force or cutting remarks. Develop good people skills, and there is no limit to where you can go in life.

Belgium isn’t a military world threat, and it probably never will be. Why do I say that? Well, look at just one example of their unthreateningly low standards. When a soldier is due for a promotion in rank he has to take a multiple choice test. To ensure that he is adequately prepared to pass, he takes home the answers to the test to study. The, he must correctly answer only twenty out of the eighty-five questions.

We live in a world with low standards in so many areas. As Christians we must be careful that we live by the higher standard of God’s Word. Only then will we find favor and promotion.

Hebrews 6:12 “That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

A young boy named Michael (not me) was fishing with his family along the Gulf of Mexico. Rather than be content with a single line he decided to assemble a rope that would have several fishhooks attached, enabling him to catch more fish in less time. Some of his family members mocked his creative idea and said he was wasting his time. By dinnertime he hadn’t yet caught a fish. After dinner he went to check his line and found he had caught more fish on his line than the rest of the family had caught all day. It seems Michael Dell, founder of Dell computers, had the last laugh.

Today you are forming habits for success or failure. Be careful of not developing the character trait of listening to overly critical people. Instead, develop the habit of listening to God’s dream for you.

2 Timothy 2:20 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.”

It takes over six months to build a Rolls Royce; then, before it can roll off the assembly line, someone listens to the engine for eight hours with a stethescope trying to detect the slightest imperfection. On the other hand , it takes only 13 hours to build a Toyota.

Some Christians, like Toyotas, are in a hurry to roll off the assembly line. They don’t want to spend time in prayer and God’s Word to develop themselves to be vessels of honor.

Then there are the Rolls Royce Christians. They spend time reading the Bible, praying, and allowing the Holy Spirit to search their lives for imperfections and to fix them. Don’t be an average Christian.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Be dilligent and present yourelf approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

A janitor got tired of pushing a broom to clean floors so he invented the Hoover vacuum cleaner. A farmer who had to do laundry one day for his sick wife realized what hard work it was and invented the mecahanical washing machine. A housewife invented Q-tips. Orville and Wilbur Wright, young bicycle mechanics, invented the first manned flying aircraft.

You don’t have to be brilliant to be successful in life. God can use you even if you aren’t an Albert Einstein. By the way, Albert had trouble in mathematics early in life, and his teacher once told his father he wouldn’t amount to much!

Study hard, do your best, and God will do the rest. Same goes in our service for God. He does not ask us to be the best, just willing.

Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths.”

A man in Sweden took his grandson on a fishing trip 65 miles from home. On the way back he got lost and drove into Norway and then into the artic circle. He drove three staright days, only stopping for gas and never asking for directions. Finally he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his car into the side of the road, where authorities later found him and his grandson, unharmed. They were hundreds of miles from home.

Everyday millions of people live like this grandpa. They are to stubborn to ask for directions. God has said that if we seek His guidance in all we do, He will direct our steps in the right path. Don’t spend your life wandering aimlessly. Seek God’s direction, and avoid getting lost in life.

Have you ever wondered about hot dog buns? I have. One time during the 1904 St. Louis Exposition, a native of Frankfurt was selling his delicous dachshund sausages. Gloves were customarily given to customers while eating the frankfurters, but this vendor ran out of them. People didn’t want to eat them by hand because they would get all greasy. He tried unsuccessfully to get more gloves, but rather than quitting he developed a creative solution to his problem. He approached a baker and had him make bread rolls to hold the frankfurters while people ate them. It worked extrememly well, and hot dog buns were born.

When you encounter obstacles that traditional answers don’t overcome, create solutions. Then nothing can stand in the way of your success.

One time I bought a tv and it was one of those deals where it was out of the box so I just had to take it home without a box. Well when I paid I put the reciept in my back pocket, which I never do, and when I left he asked to see the rceipt so they knew I was not stealing this tv. Needless to say I could not find my receipt anywhere and they were not going to let me leave, finally I found it and I did not have to pay twice for my tv.

God has given us his promises as our receipts for all Christ has purchased for us in His death and resurrection. When the devil tries to make you pay twice, throw the promises of God’s Word in his face and satnd up for what’s rightfully yours by faith.
